License, activation and refunds

Plans

Both plans are a single payment with no subscription, and both include the same Kit. SignOff Kit Free is free to use in personal and commercial work, including sites you sell to clients, and has no license key. You can’t resell or redistribute the Kit or its skills, alone or bundled.

Your license key

Your purchase comes with a license key, sent in your receipt email and shown on your order page. Activating it is part of the install: run the installer with your key, replacing YOUR-KEY with the key from your receipt.

You can also run ./install.sh and paste the key when it asks. ./install.sh --license YOUR-KEY works too, but the key can end up in your shell history, so the environment variable is the better choice. When activation succeeds, the installer prints license: activated on this machine (…).

How activation works

Activation sends your key and a machine label (your computer’s hostname) to Lemon Squeezy’s public License API. There’s no SignOff Kit server involved, and no API token in the Kit. The result is stored in ~/.signoff-kit/license.json, readable only by you. If you’re offline, your key is saved and activation retries on the next run.

Activation links the computer to your purchase and shows how many activations you’ve used. Your key is yours, so please don’t share it or the Kit.

Moving to a new computer

Solo covers 3 computers and Studio covers 15. To switch machines, run node license.mjs deactivate on the old one to free its activation, then activate on the new one.

What the license lets you do

You can use the Kit for personal and commercial work, including sites you build for clients. The sites you make are plain HTML and CSS, so they’re yours and your clients’ to keep and host anywhere. Please don’t resell the Kit itself. The bundled skills, icons and fonts keep their own open-source licenses (Apache-2.0, MIT, ISC and OFL), listed in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, NOTICE and LICENSES/. Refunds

If SignOff Kit isn’t right for you, email us within 7 days of buying it and we’ll refund the full price. Reply to your purchase receipt, or write to hello@signoffkit.com from the email address you bought with. After a refund, please delete your copy of the Kit from any computers you activated it on. The open-source skills inside it are still yours to use under their own licenses. The Refund Policy has the details.
